Precipice, written for violin, soprano saxophone, bassoon, French horn, and piano, is an exploration of the various emotions experienced when faced with extreme crisis. It is at these moments when we truly discover who we are, and usually, come together as a society while collaborating with new communities. This work investigates this by utilizing a unique combination of instruments while uniting different genres. Through hope, fear, faith, agony, and perseverance, Precipice traverses the roller coaster of assorted human sentiments by creating multiple aural episodes that utilize rhythmic manipulations and extended techniques. The piece ends as a commencement, as if one were looking over a cliff, ready to overcome whatever lies ahead…
